This could actually be the 1st ride in the year, driven in mid-April to almost the end of May when the fruit trees are in blossom. First are the plum and cherry trees in bloom, followed by the pear and finally the apple trees. A beautiful ride in the Betuwe. This is a winding route through the Betuwe that appeals to the imagination in the months of April and early May in this fairytale décor of blossom.
A particularly nice town in the Betuwe is Buren. In terms of looks, the town would fit perfectly in a Dicken scene and also has nice shops (also open on Sunday afternoons) and places to eat and drink. Nice place for a stop is Restaurant De Prins. In good weather on the terrace on the old city wall, on the water, and in less beautiful weather in the historic building on the shore.
