Chasma-Ayub mausoleum

Description

Ayub mausoleum (14th century) This building was constructed at the time of emir Timur. The most striking feature is the conic dome which has the shape of a tent. These kind of of domes were used a lot in the Khorezm architecture. The building has the shape of a elogated prism and is covered by various domes. According to the legend the mausoleum is built on the place where a well appeared after Saint Job (named in the Koran as prophet Ayub) had planted his staff. The well is nowadays situated in the the middle hall.
