From village to village - Lunteren to Scherpenzeel

Accessibility by public transport: the start and end points can be reached by public transport with local bus 505 from Lunteren station to Veenendaal-de Klomp station and then with bus 80 to Scherpenzeel, stop Kerk.

This route goes west from the Veluwerand near Lunteren through the Gelderse Vallei to Scherpenzeel. Many small roads are paved in the Gelderse Vallei, but fortunately not all.
Be surprised by the small-scale varied landscape. Take a closer look at the activities of the farmers and livestock farmers. The route also passes Bruin Horst, the small castle near Ederveen.

Through the Zwetselaarsche Veld we then arrive at the first outpost of the Grebbelinie: Fort Daatselaar and with that also the province of Utrecht. The fort houses a beautiful piece of biodiversity. Walk around the fort and let the sentry gaze at you!
New estates are becoming increasingly visible in the Dutch countryside, since the Nature Conservation Act was amended in the early nineties. A good example of this is Wittenoord, which we pass near the Luntersebeek.
Before Scherpenzeel is reached, we first enter the estate of the same name. Thanks to the management at Landgoed Scherpenzeel, nature dominates in this part of De Gelderse Vallei! As a token of appreciation, we first salute Huize Scherpenzeel, before we stand at the foot of the tower of the Grote Kerk of Scherpenzeel.
