This sheepfold was built in 1905 by order of and belongs to the nearby farm 'Het Wildeland', which is part of the Sandenburg estate. Originally there was also a shepherd's house on the other side of the Buurtweg. The Buurtweg is located east of Doorn.
Farms and sheepfolds were located around the lower villages and hamlets. From there, in the 18th and 19th centuries, broad sheep drives often arose that were connected to the moors on the ridge. In the current road pattern, many old sheep drives can still be recognized. They lie as side roads perpendicular to the main road, which runs along the flank of the ridge. Through the sheep drives, the farmers or shepherds brought their sheep to the heath during the day, the so-called wild lands. The flock contained about 150 to 200 sheep. They brought the farmers wool, meat, milk and manure. Because the sheep also had to drink along the way, pits were dug in places where groundwater was easily accessible.
