Description

Next to the church we see a wooden bell chair with gable roof in the cemetery. The bells here do not hang in a heavy stone bell tower as in our more southern regions. This bell chair was a lot cheaper to build for the often poorer population. On the other hand, the construction also weighed much less than a bell tower and is therefore more suitable in this especially peaty environment. The bell chair does radiate tranquility at the final resting place of the deceased. A jetty makes it possible to take the deceased by boat to their final resting place.
