Huis Moerenburg along the Oisterwijksebaan in Tilburg was founded in the 14th century as a large farm with a moat around it. In 1384 Moerenburg was bought by the Abbey of Tongelo. Among other things, it served as a presbytery for the parishes of Tilburg and Enschot. After 1648, the State authorities confiscated the estate and the vicar was housed there.
Around 1700, the property was purchased by Philippe Claude de Saint Amant, an officer in the service of the Republic. In 1750 it was resold. Soon after, it was demolished.
By chance, the remains of the House of Moerenburg were found in 2005. Part of the site was subsequently excavated.
In 2012, the façade of this former country estate was reconstructed in Corten steel.
