On a walled church hill lies the charming Laurentius Church. It's not big, but it stands on foundations that are more than a thousand years old.
Parts of the church tower made of marl are still medieval, the rest is 19th-century, designed by the Maastricht city architect Soiron.
Not Saint Lawrence but Anthony Abbot (depicted with the pig) is the patron saint of the church. The blessing of bread on his name day on January 17 is still a lively tradition.
The lovely and light interior makes the church a popular wedding location.
