The history of this church runs parallel to the creation and growth of the village of Noorbeek. The church is dedicated to the patron saint Brigida. Every year, on the second Saturday after Easter, the Brigida pine is planted. This is in memory of the dreaded cattle disease, the plague, that prevailed in Noorbeek in 1634. St. Brigida was invoked to eradicate this disease, which it did.
