Due to its convenient location right next to the Drachten-Emmen motorway (N381), the visitor centre in Appelscha is a perfect start for a trip through the Drents-Friese would National Park. Inside there is an exhibition with the theme Boundless Forest, outside various cycling and walking routes start.

Opening hours: April to October Tue to Fri from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (in June, July and August also on Mondays), November to March Sat and Sun from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (I school holidays Tue to Sun)
