It is known that a house of worship stood on this place for centuries. The current church was built in 1865 in neo-Gothic style. Special is the main spire, flanked by 4 smaller corner turrets. The church building was last restored in 2004, when the original ochre yellow color was also applied.
For a long time there was a close relationship between the ecclesiastical community and the noble inhabitants of Neerijnen Castle. There was the so-called right of collation, in which the castle inhabitants could influence the appointment of a minister.
The castle garden was a utility garden until 1971 (the year of death of the last occupant). This meant that the garden had to meet the daily need for vegetables, herbs, fruit and flowers for the residents of Huis Neerijnen. In 1996, volunteers started refurbishing the completely neglected castle garden and the Victorian greenhouse.
