Wageningen Castle is a former castle in the city of Wageningen, in the Dutch province of Gelderland. The castle was located southeast of the center of the city, in a strategic location where the Veluwerand, the Gelderse Vallei and the Rhine border each other. In 1500 Charles of Guelders acquired a piece of land in the city, and in the following years built a castle with garrison buildings. The castle was built in three phases. First, the canals were dug and an earthen rampart was constructed. After that, gate towers and the west wall were built. In the third phase, the castle was completed with two towers.
