The mill was built in 1798 as a scaffolding mill. In 1888 the rack was replaced by a belt and the mill became a belt mill. After falling into disrepair, the mill became the property of the municipality of Haaksbergen in 1964. A restoration followed in 1966. There were plans to move the mill due to a deteriorated mill biotope, but in 1991 the mill was restored to its original location and provided with a scaffolding again, slightly higher than the former scaffolding. A volunteer miller runs the mill regularly.
