Schuilenburg was a havezate on the border of the Salland hamlets of Hulsen and Eelen in the municipality of Hellendoorn. The current hamlet of Schuilenburg owes its name to the former havezate.
In the nineteenth century it was still thought that Schuilenburg was the place from which Duke Lothair of Saxony marched in 1123 to besiege Deventer. That theory is now obsolete. Schuilenburg only got this name after the Van Schuilenburg family entered this house at the end of the fourteenth century. Before and for quite some time afterwards, the house was called Ter Molen. The house included both a watermill on the River Regge and a windmill.
