Clockwise, you'll cycle clockwise around the industrial town of Wiltz and get 7 longer bike climbs, five of them on secondary roads, and pedal on bike paths (PC) in the river valleys of Wark, Wiltz, and Clierf. These PCs aren't completely flat either, as sometimes a river meander is cut. A detailed summary follows below.
The route starts at Camping du Nord in the Sûre Valley, but can of course be started at any point on the route (i.e. if you start from a different point, you will have to recharge the route (depending on your navigation device) when you reach the end point of this route). First you climb the steep Feischterbierg , descend to the Wark and follow the cycle path through the Warkdal. Then you climb the Kehmen plateau on a country road and then descend into the Sûre valley. You can skip this first loop and follow the Sauer upstream directly from the start. The route is then shortened by 24 km and 2 climbs are cancelled.
Then cross the Sauerdal to the beautiful town of Esch-sur-Sûre. There you get the steep climb to Kaundorf, on a wide road with gradients of up to 14% at the beginning and almost the rest of the climb of 10 to 11%. Between Esch-sur-Sauer and Kaundorf there is more traffic on the road than on the rest of this road. Then you descend to the Sauersee (Hochsauersee), which you follow for a longer time. De Bavigne follows a steep climb (initially) on a very quiet country road to Berlé and ditto descent to Winseler.
Then you follow the cycle path through the Wiltztal (upstream), it is a separate cycle path on an old railway line. In Schleif you leave the cycle path and cycle up to Grümelscheid. You get off and finally come to Wiltz on a busy road, which you follow for 1 km. Then follow the cycle path through the Wiltztal again (now downstream). Finally, it goes up to Merkholz, not via the main road, but via a country road (which is steeper than the main road).
You get off at Wilwerwiltz and cycle to Lellingen, where you drive around a ford. Then it follows the beautiful free cycle path along the river Clerve (german: Clierf), the cycle path meanders with the river and sometimes literally runs along the edge of the bank. Near Kautenbach you reach the main road and drive quickly to get away from the Clervedal in Ueweschleed via an inland road with four hairpin bends. Finally, you descend to the Sauer.
