We did this beautiful walk on 26-07-2023

The Eislek trails are always worth a walk. It's a different way of saying "U".

Departure is at the town hall of Bettendorf. The route is well signposted on two sides. We decided to do the loop clockwise. In the alley or street "Freschegaass" there are two pictures on a wall showing the water levels of the floods of 1844 and 1993.

We continue along the banks of the Sûre. Due to the vegetation, there is not much to see from the river at this point. There are beautiful views in the valley. We follow the Sauer to the N19, which we cross and then begin a steep climb. This climb takes the hiker to the top of the Fouerbierg and then to the Kiirchebësch, where traces of the war past are still visible here and there.

From the forest you have a magnificent view of the Our valley here and there. The path leads 50 meters past the Niederberghof , which also bears witness to the war past. There is not much to see at the ruin, but there is an information board.

Lastly, you will pass Bettendorf Castle . Enjoy for a while before finishing the round. Nice walk!

Throughout the walk, the hiker is offered incredibly beautiful views.

About the historic hiking trails

This trail combines history and nature. You first walk on the seawall along the Sûre. After a climb, you'll follow a former World War II front surrounded by trenches. The ruins of Niederberghaff, which you pass, are also reminiscent of times gone by. A good opportunity to discover the history of Éislek.
