The Town Hall of Termini Imerese, known as "Palazzo Comunale" in Italian, is the administrative center of the city.
It forms a duo with the Duomo in the heart of Upper Termini. Also called the Magistrate's Palace, the building that now houses the City Hall was the former seat of the city's senate .
It was built in the late 16th and early 17th centuries on a plateau where the Roman forum once stood. It is an amazing treasure chest and inside there was also a small theater where various kinds of scenes were staged.
Not to be missed is a visit to the former council chamber, the so-called 'Cammara Picta', which houses a precious cycle of frescoes painted in 1610 by the Termite painter and architect Vincenzo La Barbera, depicting historical episodes from ancient Imera and ThermaeHimerenses.
