Public garden created in 1845 at the entrance to the upper town, near the Palermo gate, the only one partially preserved from the 16th century walls.
Nicolò Palmeri , also known as Niccolò Palmieri (Termini Imerese, August 9, 1778 - Termini Imerese, July 18, 1837), was an Italian economist, historian and politician.
He belonged to a family of Sicilian landed gentry. He studied economics at the University of Palermo, where he was a favorite student of the economist Paolo Balsamo.
He was a staunch supporter of Sicilian autonomy and of the Sicilian Constitution of 1812, the constitution promulgated in Sicily during the stay of Ferdinand III of Sicily in Palermo in the Napoleonic era; he was then a member of the Sicilian Parliament.
He died of cholera in his hometown.
