The Chaud-Costet stone, sometimes called the Pierre Charlemagne, is a huge granite block (approx. 4m x 6m) with a rounded shape.
A legend is associated with it:
Did you know that in Le Tholy, babies weren't born in cabbages, nor were they brought by storks like elsewhere?
They were born under the Chaud-Costet stone, where the midwives went to fetch them at the crack of dawn. At least, that's what parents used to tell their children. As proof, they added, you only have to press your ear to the crack in the stone on windy days, and you can hear the newborns crying.
