The Saint-Roch devotional fountain is located on a roadside near the village of Sermur. Topped by a monolithic granite Latin cross, this aedicule supplied drinking water to the inhabitants of the village and Chez Rouchon, and is said to have healing powers. Legend has it that, many decades ago, the region was ravaged by summer drought at the time of Saint-Roch?s Day. The Sermurois made a procession to the fountain, and the parish priest ordered the statue of Saint-Roch to be dipped in it. Soon, as the inhabitants reached the church, the first thunderclaps sounded. The drought was over. Since then, a procession has been organized every year on the first Sunday after August 15.
