The Jesuits first moved into the buildings of the former Quercy College (16th century). They modified the old chapel of Saint-Michel-des-Pauvres, which they now dedicated to Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the order, and entrusted the realization of its painted decoration to two Jesuits: François Blanc and Jean Planchette.
The Jesuits had two imposing buildings built, at the junction of which was a large staircase with straight flights. In the center of the building, the Declamation room has a remarkable French ceiling.
In 1676, the architect Antoine Chassagnard was entrusted with the construction of the Toulousian-style campanile overlooking the college.
