Fort Séré de Rivière symbolizes the heroism of French soldiers during the 1916 battle. Commandant Raynal and his men, besieged for 7 days, fought relentlessly under a hail of shells. They were finally overcome by thirst. Discover: the command post, the infirmary, the telecommunication post, the dovecote, the Bourges casemate with its two 75 mm cannons?
A visit to the fort provides an insight into the day-to-day living conditions of the besieged fighters at the heart of the fortress, actors in a heroic drama that has become a symbol of the resistance of the Verdun soldier.
