Hermitage was built between 1880 and 1881 by Felipe Sainz de Veranda, municipal architect, on the site of the former Convent of the Holy Martyrs when the Paseo de la Ribera was extended from the Molino de Martos to the Campo Madre de Dios.
Inside, you can admire a beautiful early Christian sarcophagus in Carrara marble , dated to around 330 AD (Constantinian period), found in the chapel itself. Two scenes adorn the front of the sarcophagus: the crowing of the rooster and the arrest of the saint.
