Located in the Jardines de la Merced , the monument is the work of José Manuel Belmonte Cortés . It was inaugurated on April 29 , 2003.
The work depicts two typical Cordovan women in bronze , one on each side of the fountain, one with a jug on her hip , the other with one hand in the water and the jug beside her. Both with their hair combed in the old, typical Cordovan buns and combs .
A beautiful work with a plaque on which, in addition to the authorship of the work, there are these verses by the poet Miguel Salcedo Hierro:
“Mujeres de amor presas,
Y belleza recóndita y prudent:
Renovation promesas
The seramente
The Córdoba, and el agua de la fuente”
