The river rises west of the Serra del Caíllo, about 920 meters above sea level , in the municipality of Benaocaz.
The upper part is called 'Arroyo Seco' . Its name changes to "Rio Ubrique" when passing through Ubrique.
The river divides the city into 2 parts: the old part (east) and the new part (west).
The Ubrique River is a tributary of the Majaceite River that crosses the province of Cádiz and has a length of about 10 km.
The Ubrique river has caused flooding on several occasions. It is in the category with the most damage from possible flooding , which led to the proposal for emergency measures.
