Route offered by the car magazine GTO.
This route leads through the Ruhr area. The old, dilapidated industry was given a prominent role in recreation, art and culture. Ruhrstadt, as the metropolis is also called, will be the European Capital of Culture in 2010.
This route partly coincides with the well-known Industrial Heritage Route. This entire route is about four hundred kilometers long. There are no less than 52 places of interest; In addition to the settlements and panoramas (from gorges to slag heaps), the 25 so-called anchor points are particularly recommended. You will come across numerous brown signs from the Industrial Heritage Route along the road. If you want to explore more parts of this route, just follow the brown signs.
