Description by the author

We walk from the parking lot at Luitpoldplatz, where the Rothenbach flows into the Selbitz, over the Reußenbrücke bridge and quickly turn right into Angerstraße and then left into Garlesstraße. We follow it straight ahead to the end of the village. There we turn right and follow the same paved farm track - with alternating beautiful views of the Martinsberg children's village and, to the right, Naila and the beautiful Selbitz valley landscape that accompanies us - until we come to a path coming from Naila. We turn left twice and walk again in an easterly direction through various sections of forest until we soon come to the single cross house on the Selbitz-Marlesreuth road in the open, with a weekend house at the edge of the forest on the top right.

We now continue straight ahead on the little-used road in the direction of Weidesgrün until we reach a resettlement farm. We walk to the right, past the farm and then turn left after about 300 meters onto a road that leads us to the forest. On the way, we enjoy a wide panoramic view. Before reaching the forest, we turn left again and soon reach the Zelchweg in Weidesgrün. We follow it to the right until we reach the Döbrawiesenweg, keep sharp right here and follow the Selbitz uphill. In a Selbitz loop, we cross the Döbra stream that flows here, then cross a small wood and walk down a field path to Uschertsgrün.

Just before the inn, we come across the markings for the Webersteig trail, which will accompany us for some of the way. We walk with it at an acute angle to the left, cross the Selbitz and the wide Selbitzgrund, walk along the access road and the district road briefly to the left over the Aubachgrund to Waldeck. There a path leads us briefly but quite steeply uphill to a forest path. We follow it on natural forest ground through the Eselswald forest, always slightly uphill through a high forest. At a small crossroads, the Webersteig leaves us to the right. Keeping to the left, we walk along a natural path and later on a comfortable forest path for a good half kilometer to the stone table at Hüttung, where we meet the Franconian Mountain Trail, which accompanies us back to Selbitz.

At the stone table, we cross the road and walk diagonally across the meadow. Our circular trail follows the road leading to Hüttung just a few meters to the left. Then we immediately leave it again to the right. A field path and later a road lead us in a straight direction down the slope of the 590 m high Wachhügel hill with beautiful views to the beginning of the town of Selbitz. If we always follow the road downhill over the railroad bridge, we will soon reach our starting point at the market square again.</p
