More information and links: This stage is a quick alternative to stages four and five of the standard version of the Sacred Landscape Pfaffenwinkel East Loop long-distance hiking trail! If you still want to visit the Benediktbeuern monastery, you can easily reach it by train from Penzberg.

Way description: We start the stage in Promberg near Penzberg and pass the hamlet of Oberhof in a southerly direction. Shortly after the hamlet, there is a wayside chapel on the right-hand side of the path with an impressive painting. The trail continues to Nantesbuch, where the yellow tower of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary rises majestically. Finally, we come to Glashütte, where we have to decide whether we want to continue left along the Way of St. James towards Benediktbeuern (see stage four variant) or right towards Penzberg. If we take the direct route towards Penzberg, we follow the signs to Heilige Landschaft Pfaffenwinkel and follow a hidden path to Daser. From there we can follow the path to Reindl. We hike through the light Zibetholt and climb up to the Berghalde, the leisure and recreation area in Penzberg. In the center of the plateau is the Barbara Chapel, a reminder of the former mining industry. The construction method and the materials used are based on those used in mining. The church is therefore dedicated to the patron saint of miners, St. Barbara. Here we turn left again and take the path uphill, following in the footsteps of the Penzberg mining industry. After descending from the hill, we pass the town center of Penzberg and finally follow the railroad line out of the town. At a crossroads, we turn left towards Iffeldorf and pass a wooded area and the highway. After leaving the forest, we come to the Heuwinkl Chapel, a pilgrimage destination with a special architectural design. After visiting this gem, we continue on to Iffeldorf. We have reached our stage destination at St. Vitus Church.
