Duchess Clara (1521 to 1576) had resided with her husband Franz in Gifhorn Castle and moved to Fallersleben after his death to take up her widow's residence. Clara was appreciated as a charitable mother of the country for her social commitment and was already an advocate of equality at that time. Information signs with the silhouette of Duchess Clara between Gifhorn and Wolfsburg raise the question of who this woman, mother, sovereign, Protestant, and administrator of her widow's residence was. Each station tells us a very personal episode from the life of the duchess. All stations together bring Duchess Clara and her time to life. Around Gifhorn Castle, her spouse, Duke Franz of Braunschweig-Lüneburg, and his work as a prince of the Reformation era are also honored. With the chapel of the castle, he created the first church building erected for Protestant worship in Northwest Germany.
