It leads to the most beautiful points of the municipality between Etelsen Castle and the former castle in Langwedel and is divided into two routes.
The northern route (approx. 8 km) leads from the town hall through the village of Langwedel, which gave its name to the unified municipality of Flecken Langwedel during the territorial reform of 1972, even though the village of Etelsen had more inhabitants. Via the "Herrenkamp", one of the oldest streets in Langwedel with ancient oak trees, and the "Napoleon Bridge" over the Goldbach, you reach the train station. On Bahnhofstraße, you should make a detour to Burgbad in advance. Right at this historic location, the Langwedel Castle stood for about 600 years from around 1222. The "Burgbad Langwedel", open from May to September, was renovated in 2007.
In the always accessible entrance area, under a glass plate, you can see remnants of the former episcopal castle. On your further way north of the Bremen-Hannover railway line, you pass by horse-sheep meadows towards Cluvenhagen. The northern side of the path offers beautiful views of the pristine Daverden Moor and the Etelser Berkelsmoor, the home of the legendary "Stubben-Dierk" (1837-1914). After working as a hunting supervisor in the service of the counts, he turned to poaching.
In Etelsen, the largest village in the municipality, you can explore the restored windmill "Jan Wind", the church "Zum guten Hirten" as well as the castle and castle park with mausoleum.
Now begins the southern part (8 km) of your hike, which follows the glacial ridge along the Weser Urstromtal. Here you will experience - passing by the gravel pit with its white sand dunes - untouched nature in the landscape protection area along the "Alte Aller" between Etelsen, Cluvenhagen, and Daverden.
Enjoy the fascinating views of the vast river landscape. This low-lying area Alte Aller at the "Fischerhütte" in Cluvenhagen is also called the "Mördergrube" (murder pit), because in the past, the highwaymen are said to have carried out attacks on the coach traffic between Bremen and Verden at about the same height as the higher-lying inn "Waldschlösschen".
Passing by the open-air stage in Daverdener Holz, you reach the old village center to St. Sigismund Church, which is open from Easter to Harvest Festival.
The village of Daverden was first mentioned in a document on May 18, 1258 and celebrated its 750th anniversary in May 2008. The lime tree at the church is probably just as old. At the town hall, you can inform yourself at the beginning or end of your hike during the usual opening hours in a permanent exhibition about Burg and Amt Langwedel. Guided tours of the exhibition are possible.
You can also find the tour on Komoot.
