How different landscapes can be! This becomes particularly clear on the day trip on the RurUfer cycle path from Jülich to Heimbach. The almost 50 kilometers illustrate the change - sometimes man-made, sometimes untouched by nature. From Jülich, the cycle path initially leads through the fertile Bördelandschaft. Crops and rapeseed thrive excellently in the fields. In Schopenhoven, the landscape changes, here it is characterized by the lignite mine. From the viewpoint, the view extends deep into the open-cast mine and cyclists learn how the extraction area will be renaturalized in the coming years - a landscape made by man. But now the Rurauen and the Obermaulbach reservoir attract, where there is time for a coffee break at Café Flink. The sandstone rocks accompany the cyclists on their bike tour, accompanied by water, they pass Abenden - with its half-timbered houses, the place is a picture of people's roots with their region. Step by step, it is easy to cycle with the e-bike towards the Eifel National Park, where nature can be nature. The route runs along the meandering Rur to Heimbach. From there, the Rurtalbahn brings the cyclists back to their starting point.
We recommend this tour as an e-bike tour.
