Looking for an accessible hike or a leisurely walk with babies or toddlers? Then the EifelSchleife Moorpfad is just right. The tour, which runs east of Dahlem, offers variety for the whole family on a low-gradient 8.9 kilometers with many interesting background information about the habitat Moor. The entire route is wheelchair accessible and can be traversed with a stroller.

The moor area "Wasserdell" is still one of the few healthy moors in Germany and habitat for unique flora and fauna. The highlight of this EifelSchleife is therefore the small moor round as part of the trail. Step by step, it goes on wooden planks directly through the beautifully pronounced moor landscape past heath moor areas as well as peat bog stands and alder buckthorn bushes. Due to the damming of the moor stream, a small pond has also been created, which is ideal for letting your soul dangle.
Good to know: Numerous information boards offer the opportunity to learn more about the animal and plant life native to the moor.
The route at a glance
The tour starts and ends in Dahlem and is therefore easily accessible by Deutsche Bahn. In the village, cafes and restaurants offer the opportunity for a pleasurable stopover with regional specialties before or after the hike. Initially, the path leads over Bahnstraße to the south and onto Mühlenpfad and along the Haubach to Vierherrenstein, a former border stone on the state border between Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia. Then it continues to the moor, where the well-signposted Moorpfadrunde waits for exploration via the wooden walkway. Many benches along the way invite you to take a short moment to pause. Inhale, exhale... listen to the bird chirping and simply let this incredible natural scenery sink in. After the short break, the route meanders leisurely back to the starting point in Dahlem.
