In the resort of Altenhellefeld, first mentioned in 1236, you can expect an extraordinary natural landscape alongside the well-preserved timber-framed houses in the town center. The nature reserve Wacholderheide and the hiking paradise "Old Testament" invite you to wonderful walks and hikes. Since major village fires in Altenhellefeld have not been documented since the Middle Ages and the original cadastral map from 1829 still predominantly lists the farm names that were already recorded in 1484, it is likely that the current village structure has existed since the end of the Middle Ages.
