Kocher-Jagst-Cycle Path

The Kocher Jagst Cycle Path is a true insider tip among German river cycle paths. Over six stages with a total of 335 km, you will experience your very own piece of paradise. You will immerse yourself deeply in our original home region with its untouched natural landscapes, quaint villages and small towns, and encounter open and sociable people. And the best part: Unusually for a river cycle path, it is a circular route. You ride down the Kocher and back up the Jagst, or vice versa. Just as you wish.The ideal starting point for the Kocher-Jagst Cycle Path is the beautiful small town of Aalen on the Kocher. Thanks to the good train connections, you can travel comfortably and sustainably and start cycling directly from the train station.Already the first stage downstream from Aalen to Schwäbisch Hall gives a foretaste of all the highlights that await you in the coming days. The cycle path winds its way along the Kocher through pristine natural landscapes. Quaint half-timbered towns invite you to take a break, and the occasional unexpected surprise can be discovered along the way.The second stage takes you to the wine village of Forchtenberg, and more and more vineyards shape the landscape of the Kocher Valley. Treat yourself to a well-deserved glass before continuing on the third day to the confluence of the Kocher and Neckar rivers at Bad Friedrichshall.Just a few hundred meters further, the Jagst also flows into the Neckar. The harmonious coexistence of the two twin rivers allows you to cycle upstream from now on in stages four to six back to Aalen. Castles and palaces, which tell you about the extraordinary life of Götz von Berlichingen, tower above the picturesque Jagst Valley, which is cut deeper and deeper into the Hohenloher plateau. Small town gems, like the half-timbered Ellwangen, invite you to take a break, and nature once again shows itself from its most beautiful side, for example in the St. Wendel zum Stein nature reserve or the bird sanctuary at Bucher Reservoir. After six eventful, yet pleasantly relaxing days on the bike, you return to Aalen and comfortably take the train back home.
