The Upper Swabia-Allgäu Cycle Path connects the natural and cultural treasures of Upper Swabia and the Württemberg Allgäu on a 365-kilometre circular route. The route leads through species-rich conservation areas and over rolling hills, with baroque churches and monasteries as well as stately castles lining the route.
The route starts in Ulm on the Danube and runs clockwise via scenic towns and villages such as Laupheim, Wangen, Markdorf and Aulendorf and past castles and palaces and baroque churches and monasteries back to the start, which is quite hilly in places, but also has many relaxing sections.
The Alpine foothills, with their idyllic villages and farms, provide the backdrop for a truly picture-perfect tour. In addition, there are always spectacular views of the Swiss Alps, which greet you from the southern shore of Lake Constance. The idyllic Upper Swabia-Allgäu region has so much to offer!
This circular route showcases everything that Upper Swabia and the Württemberg Allgäu are known for. You can experience Swabian hospitality in the inns and beer gardens with regional specialties, in the small cheese dairies in the Allgäu and in the many local, traditional breweries. The historic buildings and museums await those interested in art and the many spas and thermal baths for those seeking relaxation. The tradition of this Upper Swabian spa landscape goes back to the moor as a natural remedy.Along the route through the Wurzacher Ried and the Federsee-Ried you can marvel at the moorland landscape with its special and rare biodiversity. Hidden in the Federsee moor are also pile dwellings from the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages. Four sites have been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps" since 2011.If you then combine the Upper Swabia-Allgäu Cycle Path with the Danube-Lake Constance Cycle Path, you have so many options that one cycle tour is certainly not enough.
