Short Description

A tour that leads through picturesque villages of the Vorfläming region to their themed churches. These special churches tell stories of faith, arouse curiosity, and inform.

Description

On a distance of about 33 kilometers, this tour takes you on a discovery journey through the Vorfläming region. The cycling route is not yet signposted, but can be easily ridden with a map and/or this description. It mainly runs along quiet district roads and well-developed agricultural and local connecting paths of good quality.

The themed churches in the Zerbst districts are beautiful old churches that invite to spiritual encounters, encounters with history, and inner reflection. Your bike tour will take you not only to these themed churches, but also to other churches whose doors are open around the clock.

Plan about 15 minutes for visiting each church.

Expert guided tours are possible by prior arrangement at 0340/25 26 1106. Also through the Anhalt Regional Church: A. Janßen, Tel. 0340/25261401 or S. Hahn, Tel. 0179/2029321.

Directions

We start our tour at the Village Church Museum in Garitz.

The unique museum is located in the old starch factory and, along with the information point of the Fläming Nature Park and the festival barn, is the cultural center of the village. The beautiful village church in Garitz is as rich in history as it is worth seeing. The country hotel in the village invites you to linger.

From here, we continue to the Kleinleitzkau district with the beautiful small village church St. Michaelis.

Just beyond its outskirts, there is a junction with agricultural paths. Turn right and ride along the connecting path to Bornum, and the village church can be seen from a distance.

In Bornum, follow the Long Street, which forms the village center, and at the end, you will reach a junction. From here, turn left onto a well-developed path through the forest and fields to Mühlsdorf.

In the village, you will find signs directing you to the road towards Luso. Follow this road until you reach Luso and the Hymnal Church. Here, you can browse through many very old and new hymnals and Bibles from all over the world, read, and of course, sing.

From the church, go back a little and you will be back at the outskirts. Immediately to the left, you will find the connecting road to Bone. Ride to the entrance of Bone, passing the village church, make a small detour to the left, and then immediately turn right. Right at the corner, you will find the inn Unter den Linden inviting you to stop for a meal. Continue to the end of the road and the village.

The left merging road leads towards Pulspforde, and follow it.

After about 1 km and overcoming a small ascent, you will quickly descend again. At the end of the small hill, the road meets the Fläming Cycle Path, and you turn right. After about 1.6 km, a path on the left leads to the Bonitz district. Make a small detour to the left to the village center and then continue to the right, passing by the village church, and ride straight for another 300 m. Shortly after the silos on the right, turn right, continue straight ahead, and after nearly 2 km, you will reach the first turnoff to Trüben on the right.

After a few meters, you will enter the village and turn left. It is only 250 m to the Osterkirche Trüben. The Passion of Christ is depicted in many stations both inside and outside the church. Panels on the church grounds provide hints and explanations. Visiting the Osterkirche is a special experience for which you should definitely take your time.

From here, head left towards Garitz. Just a few meters past the sign of Trüben, a well-developed path leads to Gollbogen (approx. 3.5 km). Shortly before merging onto the state road L 121, take a sharp right turn and after about 2.6 km, you will reach the village of Mühro.

From Mühro, cycle another 1.4 km along the road to Polenzko to the Christmas Church. The Christmas Church is widely known for housing the largest wooden carved nativity scene in Germany, depicting the biblical Christmas story.

From Polenzko, follow the well-signposted Fläming Cycle Path with its own tour logo back to Garitz, returning to the starting point of the bike tour.
