Right through the beautiful Meetjesland runs a bunker line from the First World War, the 'Hollandstellung'. The Germans built this line in 1917 for fear of an Allied attack from the Netherlands. This cycle route passes a large number of the no less than 13 bunkers and many other monuments.
This cycle route runs through Eeklo, Kaprijke and Evergem and leads you along the most beautiful paths in the Meetjesland.
