Description by the author

Highly recommended to explore this beautiful region.

This route starts at the burned down and partly restored church of Anzegem.

It goes via rural roads and 'stepping stones' as the paved roads are locally called to the Basseveldbos (not always accessible) and the Sint-Arnolduspark in Tiegembos. A stopover is certainly possible here in the numerous catering establishments. Or better yet: make it a day trip with lunch in the woods!

In spring, the blooming bluebells create a beautiful blue carpet in both forests.

From the church we immediately arrive at the fields that are so characteristic here. A little further you pass the Basseveldbos where the bluebell covers the bottom. Via rural roads we arrive at Tiegemberg to dive into the Sint-Arnoldus Park. The Sint-Arnoldus Park was laid out at the end of the 19th century on behalf of Vital Moreels. The 19th century is characterized by the rise of devotion. In the course of that century, many healings and miracles occurred, also in Tiegem. The revival of the source of pilgrimage in the 19th century is due to a number of miraculous healings. Many believed that the water of the spring has medicinal properties, thanks to Saint Arnold! A chapel was built and artificial rocks, ponds, fountains, walking paths and a sunbathing area were added. The cement rock formations, a typical Belgian phenomenon, are especially worth seeing.
Now the domain is mainly a recreational domain where natural beauty, playing and romping are the most important assets. Hikers and nature lovers will certainly get their money's worth. There is a children's play area.

It continues through the stylish villas that overlook the valley from Tiegemberg. Passing houses of writers and via 'stepping stones' we return to the Bassegembos to end the hike in the opposite direction.
