This calvaire consists of a wooden cross with a crucifix under a canopy .
Unfortunately, the origins of this beautiful little crucifix remain completely unknown to this day.
This type of cross, known as a “canopy cross”, can be found all over Wallonia, but the province of Liège has the most examples. In most cases, the upright and crosspiece of the cross are simply covered with two slats or planks, with or without processing, at an angle of 45°, which form a kind of canopy for the cross. In rarer cases this hood is rounded and sometimes there is even a back of planks.
