Just before you reach the village of Weisten, a viaduct comes into view. The railway viaduct has 4 pillars and is 24 meters high. The St.Vith/Gouvy railway was built between 1915 and 1917 by Russian prisoners of war, many of whom lost their lives. In the interwar period, coal wagons ran here from the Ruhr area (D) to Lorraine (F). It was not until 1936 that a stop was made in Weisten for the inhabitants of Weisten, Braunlauf and Crombach. In 1952, the passenger trains were replaced by train cars - called "Trottinetten" - until traffic on the line was completely stopped in 1968.
