In February 2019, six trees were 'killed' here with a chainsaw and poison. The owner of the forest, Eric Desmaele, wrote a poem entitled 'De boommoord te Schorisse'. Chainsaw and a pot of poison symbolize the murder weapons
The trees were treated and survived (2022). This age-old technique works as follows: above and below the saw cut they looked for life in the tree. After this, a gap was made between bark and sapwood – where the cambium layer is located. The one-year-old shoots were then inoculated at this site and covered with wound dressing to prevent drying. The sugars produced by photosynthesis by the leaves can in this way flow back to the roots and this would allow the trees to survive.
