Description

The Béguinage, which dates back to the 13th century, has been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1998.

You can stroll past the small houses and around the inner courtyard or visit Saint Matthews Chapel. In the Sint-Annaroom you will find the new experience centre. The 'béguinage' phenomenon has been interpreted afresh using a mixture of authentic heritage and modern media techniques.

The Beguinage site is freely accessible from 9:00 to 21:00. The visitor center, experience center, and St. Matthew's Chapel are open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 to 17:00.

Accessibility: The site is wheelchair and stroller accessible. A smooth pathway is provided along the building facades to avoid the bumpy cobblestones. You can reach the experience center via an elevator located around the corner of the building.
