The oldest indication of the mill dates from 1456. He belonged to the water castle, which no longer exists. The castle was owned by the 'lords of Schorisse' during the ancien regime. The water mill is located on the river Maarkebeek, which is however called 'Molenbeek' or 'Meulebeek' on the territory of Schorisse. After the French Revolution the mill came into the possession of the miller. Since 1906, the mill has been owned by the family Vanderdonckt, the fifth generation now operating it. The associated farm was closed down in 1968 but the mill is still grinding. The iron upper cartweel was renewed in 1981 and in the period 1993-1997 repairs were carried out on the building and on the dam. This mill has been a protected heritage since 10 August 1976.
The mill still grinds daily. The current miller Rufin Vanderdonckt is the fifth generation of this family who uses the mill professionally. The mill was given the certificate "Active Mill 2013" in 2013. This nomination was made by the Molenforum Vlaanderen vzw.
