Description

You are now walking through one of the beautiful sunken roads in Hoeselt. Over the course of centuries, hollow roads have been so deeply eroded by agricultural traffic that they have fallen below the level of the landscape. They are now hidden, as it were, between fields, grasslands and orchards. Most of the sunken roads originated in the late Middle Ages. Because it is difficult for the zone and wind to penetrate, the temperatures are milder and it is more humid. This sometimes creates a wooded road between, for example, two hay meadows or fields.
