Bleating on the Heath
The heathland and grazers are strongly connected. In the past, cows and sheep roamed under the guidance of a shepherd. On the Heiberg, we are restoring this use to its former glory and grazers are helping to maintain the heathland landscape. The sheep nibble on grass, heather and shrubs and thus provide extra structure in the vegetation. The tree pipit takes full advantage of their work. If you're lucky, you'll see the shepherd at work herding his flock.
