The first church on this site probably dates from the 11th or 12th century. In the 14th century, a new church was built, in Gothic style, and equipped with a free-standing tower. In 1551, a St. Hubert's altar was erected.
In 1651 the church was destroyed by the troops of Charles IV of Lorraine. 30 inhabitants died and the parish archives were also lost. The tower suffered little damage, nave and choir all the more. In 1656 the building was restored. In 1661, a Brotherhood of Saint Hubert had recently been established, and thus Saint-Huibrechts-Lille became a place of pilgrimage. It was not until 1687 that the church was fully restored.
