A language problem killed eight people and injured twelve people in one day. This is where a train disaster happened on March 27, 2001. A signalman in Wavre had seen that a train had ignored the traffic light and that a train from Leuven was coming from the opposite direction. The signalman from Wavre called the signalman from Leuven to take the power off the overhead line and stop the trains. Both of them didn't understand each other's language. And the trains collided head-on. You can still see an inscription on two bluestone commemorative plaques. The inscription is in two languages.
