Borgloon means 'castle on a wooded hill'. The remains of this castle hill can be found behind the municipal library on the Speelhof. This castle hill is 30 meters higher than the surroundings, giving you a fantastic view of the rolling landscape around the city of Borgloon. On the information boards you can learn more about the history of the city in 'het Graafschap Loon'. PIT, a project of Z33 - house for contemporary art - brings art into the open space of Borgloon and Heers. The 'Castle Hill' project is one of the many works of art. The Japanese artist Tadashi Kawamata and the students built a wooden sculpture on and around the castle hill.
