The ascent of the Wall of Geraards mountains is the legendary slope of the Flemish spring classics. This is often where the decisive battle in the Tour of Flanders falls.
The maximum ascent is 20% and the total length is 1000 meters. The ascent starts at the foot at 18 meters above the sea spires and ends at the top at 110 meters.
The ascent goes via the streets Abdijstraat, Oudebergstraat and Oudeberg.
The Wall is the most 'used' hellin in the history of the Tour of Flanders. It has been climbed more than 37 times. He usually looms at about 250 km in the race and therefore makes him even more difficult.
In 1981 the Chapel Wall was added, a loop with 17% slope percentages around the top of the Oudenberg, consisting of 325m of asphalt and 475m of cobblestones.
