The nature reserve De Viconiakleiputten is a 20 ha old clay extraction zone of the former brickyard of Nieuwpoort. The excavation was very irregular and quite shallow, creating a differentiated biotope of open water, mudflats, reed beds and grassland. The area, which is named after the castle farm in front of you, is a breeding and foraging area for ducks and reed warblers.
